What an AV integrator does

An AV integrator designs the system a room needs, installs it, commissions it, and hands it over documented. That covers the display, the camera and its lens, the microphones and loudspeakers, the processing and control that tie them together, the network they sit on, and the cabling and mounting nobody sees. A room where all of that was decided together behaves like one device. A room where each part was bought separately behaves like six.

The words vary. Audio visual, audio-visual, AV, commercial AV, AV company, systems integrator: the work underneath is the same, and so is the question a buyer is really asking, which is whether the room will still work in a year.

What LXSYS does, plainly

• Design. A site walk first, then sightlines and acoustics, then a drawing and a written specification of the room.
• Installation. Mounting, cabling, network configuration, and commissioning against that specification rather than against a general idea of finished.
• Handover. As-built documentation, asset tags and a one-page user card, so the room can be run by whoever walks into it.
• Support afterwards. A named engineer per account, and response times agreed in writing rather than promised on a web page.

Every installer carries a badge and has passed a background check, and we do not put subcontractors on a clinical floor. That is written on the about page next to the trading name and the address, where it can be checked.

Two manufacturer lines, specified deeply

We carry two lines and specify both properly, instead of listing a catalogue we only half know. LXSYS is an Authorized MAXHUB partner and a QSC dealer, and an independent authorized partner and dealer, not an agent of either manufacturer.

MAXHUB covers the room's surfaces and its Microsoft Teams Rooms hardware: interactive displays such as the MAXHUB XBoard for Microsoft Teams Rooms, video bars, compute kits and touch consoles. QSC covers what the room hears and how it is controlled, on the Q-SYS platform: processing from a Q-SYS Core Nano upward, network loudspeakers, beamforming table microphones, PTZ cameras and cloud management.

Rooms built to a standard, not from nothing

There are four room types — huddle, boardroom, training room and lobby — and each is written in three tiers. A room is specified from the template that fits it and then adjusted, which is why two rooms of the same type in the same building end up the same rather than approximately the same.

Where the room has to join a Microsoft Teams meeting, there are four shapes it can take: in the display, as a Windows kit, as an Android bar, or not at all, with a USB bar making whatever laptop walks in the room. Which one is right is decided by who patches the room and how guests join, not by which is newest.

LXSYS is at 230 Goddard, Irvine, California, and works across Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego and the Inland Empire. Distance changes how a week is scheduled. It does not change the site walk, the documentation or who answers afterwards.

Three questions worth asking any integrator

1. Who does the site walk, and do they look at sightlines and acoustics before anything is specified?
2. What documentation comes with the room on the day it is handed over, and can you see an example?
3. When something stops working in eighteen months, who answers, and is that answer written down anywhere you can point at?

Our answers are published rather than described. The trading name, address, phone number, manufacturer authorisations and what we commit to are set out in a table, because we would rather you checked than took our word for it.

Common questions

Is LXSYS an AV integrator or an AV company?

Both describe the same work. Integrator is the word for combining the parts into one system; AV company is what most people type. LXSYS is an audio-visual systems integrator in Irvine, California.

Do you work with hardware other than MAXHUB and QSC?

A room usually contains things we did not supply — displays already on the wall, network hardware you already own, furniture that decides the camera — and we work with what is there. What we do not do is claim depth in a catalogue we have not installed.

Do you take small rooms as well as whole floors?

Yes. The room types start at a huddle room, and the tiers exist so a small room can be specified properly rather than approximately.

Who owns the room once it is handed over?

You do, including the credentials. Batch configuration, remote maintenance and content distribution can stay in your hands or ours, and that is a decision made at design time rather than discovered afterwards.
