What it works with

For checking fit before you specify. Every figure below is taken from the published specification of the product named.

The switch is the budget line, and it has to be PoE+

This is published as PoE+ Type 2 Class 4 — not PoE. The pendant NL-P4 publishes both options, PoE Type 1 Class 4 or PoE+ Type 2 Class 4, so an open-ceiling room can land on a plain-PoE port. A recessed NL-C4 room cannot. Connection is RJ-45, Gigabit with PoE, over Cat5e or better. Count the ports before the speakers: every unit in the ceiling is one Class 4 port and they do not share one.

The microphone on the same table is a different PoE class

An NM-T1 table microphone publishes PoE Type 1 Class 2, under 6.5 W. So a single room mixes Class 4 ports for the ceiling with Class 2 for the table. That distinction is usually lost when AV hands IT one port count for the room.

There is no amplifier, and that is a deletion from the bill of materials

Audio, power and control arrive on the one cable, so the design has no amplifier, no speaker cable and no rack space for either. Where passive loudspeakers are already in the ceiling, or the consultant has specified them, the CX-Q 2K4 is back in the design and brings 2 RU and 16 in of rack depth with it. The two are alternatives, not companions.

Which Core runs it, and the peripheral budget it spends

Each unit is a network peripheral. Core Nano and Core 8 Flex each publish up to 32 network peripherals, and that budget is shared with the microphones, the touch controller and everything else on Q-LAN — so a ceiling of sixteen has spent half of it before the table is fitted. Core Nano publishes no analog I/O at all, every source networked; Core 8 Flex publishes 8 Flex channels on board plus 8 x 8 GPIO in its place. Both publish 64 x 64 networked audio over Q-LAN and AES67, and 8 AEC processors.

Recessed or pendant, and what this page does not publish

Ceiling mount, 4 in full-range driver, with Intrinsic Correction voicings applied automatically by QSC rather than tuned by ear. The NL-P4 is the same driver and the same single cable in a pendant enclosure for exposed services, and its page publishes the acoustic figures: 90 Hz - 20 kHz, 100° coverage at the -6 dB point, 94 dB max continuous SPL on PoE and 97 dB on PoE+, UL 2043 plenum and IP34. Those are the NL-P4’s published figures and not this one’s. Coverage angle, SPL and plenum rating for the recessed version are confirmed on quote and are not published here — worth asking for before the ceiling grid is set out.

Monitoring is in the specification, not an add-on

QSC Reflect publishes a no-cost Basic tier for one location, so a single site watches these speakers without a subscription line. Remote configuration, firmware deployment and usage data sit in Reflect Plus. A failed unit becomes a notification rather than a complaint from the room.
